Greenwich Breastfeeding Strategy
Greenwich Breastfeeding Strategy is a partnership between Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Greenwich Teaching Primary Care Trust, Greenwich Council, the University of Greenwich and the voluntary sector. The partnership was first established back in the mid 1990’s as a result of an identified lack of support available locally for breastfeeding mothers.
The aim of the partnership is to increase breastfeeding rates as part of improving health outcomes for all mothers and children particularly those from less advantaged groups.
The Strategy is leading the borough through the International UNICEF Baby Friendly Initiative, a global programme which ensures breastfeeding best practice standards are implemented in the hospital and the community.
